The mood swings

Are quick mood swings because she's 3? Are they because she's a girl? Because she's a 3 year old girl?
Well, whatever the reason, we never know, from moment to moment, what to expect.
This morning, we went on Isabella's first ever Easter egg hunt. She was so excited!! She didn't know what to expect, and I didn't tell her. I did coach her on egg hunt etiquette (if another child is going for an egg, we move on and look for a different one - no grabbing away). On the drive to the Easter egg hunt location, she said "I hope there are treats with the eggs." I just told her we'll have to wait and see. Once the hunt started, she was piling eggs in her bucket so quickly. Then, one came open and she saw....."CANDY!" She moved even faster at getting those eggs! But, there were plenty for all. Some kids stopped because they were too anxious for that candy. Others were like my girl - piling as many in their baskets and buckets as possible!
We are not big on Izzy having candy. She will get chocolate, but has never had the kinds of candy in the egg hunt - mini tootsie rolls, caramels, Laffy Taffy. When we got home, she sorted the candy - all the tootsie rolls in a bowl for herself; all the rest in a bowl for Daddy (with a few caramels handed to Mommy).
After a couple more pieces of candy, I told Isabella no more until after lunch. She ate 2 goldfish crackers and asked for more candy. I told her no - she needed her sandwich. She had a mini-tantrum. Then told me she'd eat one little bit of meat from her sandwich. Next thing I knew, she'd eaten her entire sandwich. (Now, this is where the mood swing comes in, in case you thought I got off topic.)
Izzy walked over to see what I was eating - carrot sticks. I asked if she would like one (she has never liked carrots - even as a baby...frustration for a mommy!). She said, oh so sweetly "No thank you. I have my own lunch. But thank you SO MUCH for asking."
Moments like that erase every tantrum.
That being said - the candy is being put away, now, until tomorrow, at which time it'll be doled out to just a couple of pieces the entire day (if that). So, I'm bracing myself for the tantrum storms I know are ahead...
Until later, peeps! (get it...Easter candy...Peeps!....yeah, I know...lame!)
